Fear and Misery of the Third Reich

Fear and Misery of the Third Reich

Description

By Bertolt Brecht. Translated by John Willett. Directed by Tom Mansfield.

Brecht's series of twenty-four interconnected playlets describe events which took place in ordinary German households in the runup to the Second World War. They dramatise with clinical precision the suspicion and anxiety experienced by ordinary people, especially Jewish citizens, as Hitler's power grew.

Grimm Tales Retold

Grimm Tales Retold

Description

By Phillip Holyman. Directed by Little Earthquake.

Jakob and Wilhelm’s famous fairy stories get a Little Earthquake-over, with six new adaptations showing some familiar characters in a dark new light. Spiked with black humour and sprinkled with gore, these tales are decidedly Grimm and deliciously unexpected.

Picnic at Hanging Rock

Picnic at Hanging Rock

Description

By Joan Lindsay. Adapted by Tom Wright. Directed by Jo Gleave.

Australia, 1900. An ancient land becomes the site of an impossible mystery. A group of schoolgirls and their teachers venture out into the sundrenched landscape, only for four of their number to disappear forever. In Tom Wright's chilling adaptation of Joan Lindsay's classic novel, the performers struggle to solve the mystery of the missing girls and their teacher. Euphoria & terror reverberate throughout Appleyard College, as the potential for history to repeat itself becomes nightmarishly real.
