Residential trip for students studying in the Department of English Literature to Stratford-upon-Avon. Ticket and travel costs have been subsidised by the School of English, Drama and Creative Studies and our collaboration with the RSC to reduce the cost for students.

For 2024, the annual conferences of the British Society for Literature and Science (BSLS) and the European Society for Literature, Science and the Arts (SLSAeu), together with the biennial conference of the Commission on Science and Literature (

For 2024, the annual conferences of the British Society for Literature and Science (BSLS) and the European Society for Literature, Science and the Arts (SLSAeu), together with the biennial conference of the Commission on Science and Literature (CoSciLit), will be combined into a single meeting. This will be the first time that these three societies have joined together to share research at the many intersections of literature and science.

This international gathering of leading Shakespeare scholars is held every two years, in the summer. Please note due to capacity restrictions we have had limited in person stands available which have been filled.

The options are:

Option 1: An in-person stand and digital sponsorship, £400

Option 2: A digital presence in communications with conference delegates, on the conference website and in the digital Conference Programme, £200

Full Coference Registration - Registration includes lunch on Tue, Wed and Thu, the Dickens Dinner, and all social events.

Guest and Social Ticket - Theoption is for guests who will only attend the Dickens Dinner and social events.

Accommodation - The options to accommodation will open, once you select a type of Attendee Category. Room prices include breakfast (full English and Continental). The on-campus accommodation is available for giests too. PLease note our accommodation deadline is significantly earlier that the over deadline. Please book accommodation by Sunday May 19th. No on-campus accommodation options will be available after this date.

This registration platform is to book your partner in to share the double room. Please note, you will need to have registered and booked for accommodation for the Symposium already to be able to do this.

In-person fee rates: Unwaged, adjunct, or retired: £100 / Assistant or Associate Professor: £150/ Full Professor: £200
•    Delegates attending in-person have access to all panels, events, and receptions. 
•    They also have the opportunity to sign up for one seminar and to audit all other seminars. All seminars will be hybrid.
•    A morning tea and coffee and a light buffet lunch will be provided Wednesday-Friday. There will be a drinks reception on Tuesday evening, a garden party on Wednesday late afternoon, and a short performance on Thursday late afternoon. 

Online fee rates: Unwaged, adjunct, or retired: £25 / Assistant or Associate Professor: £35 / Full Professor: £45
•    Delegates attending online will have live access to all panels plus access to recordings during the week following the conference. 
•    They also have the opportunity to sign up for one seminar and to audit all other seminars. All seminars will be hybrid.
•    All sessions will take place between 9am-5pm UK time.
