Part of Birmingham ACT Week 2017. Facilitators: Dr Richard Bennett & Dr Sally Bradley.

ACT is an evidence-based transdiagnostic intervention that that has its origins in the behavioural tradition of psychological therapy. It is concerned with helping individuals identify their values and taking committed action in the service of them. ACT identifies key processes that enable individuals to develop greater ‘psychological flexibility’ and teaches skills that help to change the relationship between an individual and their experience.

This two day workshop for practitioners working in the field of physical and/or mental health care provides an introduction to the key principles of ACT, and of Relational Frame Theory, which supports the theory and practice of ACT. It will have an experiential focus, in that delegates will be encouraged to engage in common ACT techniques and exercises from a personal perspective, in the service of learning more about their application with people wo present for help from services.
